Internship Field: Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Economics, International Relations
Major: Human Biology
Host: Lever Fabergé Deutschland GmbH (part of Unilever Home and Personal Care-Europe)
Duration: 3 months, Summer 2000
Description: I had basically three Major projects: 1. Evaluate the cost/benefit relationship for a potential liquid version of a Sunil product. To this end, I was able to write a report that was distributed to the key persons and discussed with them the possible directions the company could take. 2. Develop a visual
representation of the detergent market, the consumers within this market, and create possible ways to understand the range of consumer insights involved in detergent. This was an effort to put the focus on the consumers and the competition. - In the marketing world, it can be very easy to focus only on your product. 3. Support the team to develop communication and further develop current mix. I gave input toward the current advertisment campaign and worked with other agencies to realize this campaign.
Comments: I did acquire skills such as how to hold business relations, how to manage a brand, and how to work creatively in a restrictive framework. The most personally rewarding part was being able to present my work to the big boss. He is in charge of the entire marketing team here and was pleased with the work I have done. ... I guess just knowing that in three months I was able to entirely re-establish myself in a totally new city in a foreign company really showed me more about myself personally.
