SEAN ODLUM
Internship Field: Political Science/ International Relations
Major: International Relations
Minor: Biology
Host: Berliner Informationszentrum für transatlantische Sicherheit e.V. (BITS e.V.)
Location: Berlin
Duration: 3 months in summer 2002
Description: "My main job was to conduct research research on issues relevant to transatlantic security, and to write papers based on my research. I also did work on a literature list regarding common european security and defense policy, and helped prepare English language publications".
Comments: "Most of my work was very worthwhile. The compilation of the literature list was mostly just busy work, which I didn't find personally beneficial, but it simply had to be done. Otherwise, I learned a lot about conducting research and writing papers for publication. /.../ Interacting with my co-workers was a particularly valuable part of my internship. I was able to learn a lot about German culture and especially politics, which was always very interesting. I also did interesting things with my co-workers outside of work, like playing soccer with one of my co-worker's university team.
