SARAH KUNIS

Internship Field: International Relations

Major: Political Science

Host: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP)

Location: Berlin

Duration: 3 months in summer of 2013

Description: "My projects consisted mainly of conducting research and writing up reports on various topics relevant to the USA-European transatlantic relationship. I wrote reports on the future of drone warfare, the US-Russian relationship regarding missile nonproliferation, South Korean media perceptions of the U.S. military, and the ongoing NSA privacy scandal. I also assisted my boss in preparing for a presentation on the Arctic by writing up a report on the five polar states and the EU in German. I was also responsible for doing quick research and writing talking points for spur of the moment media requests that my boss would receive."

Comments: "I honed my research and writing skills. By researching topics I had never encountered before, I learned a lot of new material. I believe it will be useful for future academic or work settings. Meeting other interns and getting to know the other staff members was probably the best part of the internship."
