ALEXANDRA POCEK

Internship Field: Economics

Major: Economics

Host: DaimlerChrysler AG

Location: Stuttgart-Böblingen

Duration: 3 months in Spring 2003

Description: Risk/ crisis management: I researched two automobile recalls/ cases in the United States and wrote a case study analyzing them. I concentrated mostly on the reactions of the corporations and governmental agencies involved, tracking the process of where things went wrong. This can also be referred to as Crisis Management. Although the case study was by far my biggest project, I also researched new automobile technologies. I summarized the new innovations in a table, stating their advantages and disadvantages /.../ this will be used as an update for company members.

Probably my most important skill coming out of this internship is knowing how to write a good case study and improving my crisis management skills

Comments: These were definitely worthwhile projects. While it was sometimes hard to have to stare at a computer screen for such long periods of time, I think that is a part of many jobs. Probably my most important skill coming out of this internship is knowing how to write a good case study and improving my crisis management skills
